Electrical Storage Start-ups

To identify the best up-and-coming electrical storage solutions in the world, InnoEnergy launched a call last year with great success, receiving over 220 applications!

The 15 winners will pitch in front of a high-profile jury to compete for the final grand prize of €100,000.

FINAL PITCHING EVENT ON 21 MARCH 2019

On 21 March, the top start-ups in electrical storage will gather at Amsterdam’s historic Beurs van Berlage to pitch their solutions. This is an invitation-only event where attendees from industry and investors can gain access to the most innovative start-ups covering electrical storage applications in e-mobility and transportation, energy storage systems, and general industry.

13:30 – 15:00: Registration, networking and light lunch
15:00 – 16:15: Opening speeches and Part 1 of start-up’s pitches
16:15 – 17:00: Networking, exhibition and coffee break
17:00 – 18:30: Part 2 of start-up pitches and winner of €100,000 announced
18:30 – 20:30: Celebration cocktails and buffet dinner

Location

Amsterdam Conference Centre Beurs van Berlage is located in the centre of Amsterdam, on the Damrak, Oude Brugsteeg and Beursstraat, directly facing Amsterdam Central Station, at a short distance of highways and Schiphol airport.

From Amsterdam Schiphol Airport, you can reach Amsterdam Conference Centre Beurs van Berlage by train
or taxi. The trains leave four times every hour and the journey takes about fifteen minutes. When you arrive at Amsterdam Centraal Station by train or by tram, Beurs van Berlage is 300 metres away, about a five minute walk. You can see Beurs van Berlage on the Damrak in front of you when you leave the Central Station along the Stationsplein (Station square) and head out towards the Dam from there.

A high-profile jury of key representatives from the energy storage field will select the 15 winners, and one grand prize winner will be chosen and receive the choose one of them for the 100,000€ grand prize.

Your idea should have applications in any of the following areas:

Covering all transport modes – roads, waterborne transport, aeronautics and rail transport

Energy storage systems

For the grid and at home, distributed storage as well as large scale storage. The integration and utilization of mobile storage into solutions for supporting the grid.

General industry

Wherever industry is electrifying to boost energy efficiency and emissions reduction.

Significant growth in electrification drives need for global call

Demand for electrical storage is rapidly increasing. EIT InnoEnergy plays a pivotal role within the European Battery Alliance, together with 120 stakeholders in the battery ecosystem. It aims to create a competitive and sustainable battery cell manufacturing value chain in Europe.

That’s why we want to find, reward and develop the best and most innovative ideas around electrical storage from across the globe.

What we’re looking for

We want to see start-ups based on innovative technology or business models in the electrical storage area, including electric batteries and/or supercapacitors, and their ancillary devices, whether based on hardware or software.

Your idea should offer competitive advantages in, for example: power density, weight, form factor, environmental impact, production cost, charging, supply, operation and maintenance, health and safety, or recycling.

And your idea should have applications in any of the following areas:

Anyone with a great idea can enter: established start-ups or those ready to get going. We will use the following criteria:

Idea – Have you developed a technological solution that meets a critical need in the market?

Impact –  Is your technology a game changer? Tell us about it and let us know how it will change the rules of the market.

Team –  Do you have that winning team that is able to step up the plate on the road to success? Together with our coaches we can help you grow!

Business –  Are you able to translate your technology into a sustainable and profitable business?

The path to success

STEP 1 – 23 NOVEMBER

End of the first assessment round

Applications evaluated, 50 highest scoring start-ups will be invited to the second stage.

STEP 2 – 30 NOVEMBER

Pitches uploaded

Those top 50 will upload a five-minute pitch and be assessed further by InnoEnergy experts. The 30 highest scoring ventures will then go forward to the third stage.

STEP 3 – 19, 20 MARCH 2019

Pitching event

Top 30 will be invited to attend the pitching event in Amsterdam, The Netherlands. 15 winners will be selected.

STEP 4 – 21 MARCH 2019

Celebration event

15 winners invited to the Celebration Event including final pitching event, where €100,000 will be given to the best start-up. All 15 winners offered participation in the InnoEnergy Highway or Boostway programme.
